Benefit Plan Questions

Group RRSP & Pension Plans

​

What kind of Plans do you administer?

A: We administer many different kinds of Group plans, from Group Registered Retirement Savings Plans to Defined contribution plans.

​

My company offers a plan that you administer, how do I enroll?

A: If you are a member of one of the Group Plans that we administers and you require information, please visit your Payroll person department for information on how to enroll. Once you obtain some information, you can contact us to either set up an appointment or provide you with the information that your Payroll person has instructed you to obtain.

​

How do I complete the forSTms?

A: We can help you complete your Group Application and can direct to an Investment Advisor to help you choose your investments wisely.

​

What do I do if my information changes?

A: If you have an address change or want to change other information, such as your beneficiary, please call us for advise on what forms you need and how to complete these changes.

​

What happens if I am no longer a member of my Group Plan (NABET excluded)

A: If you are no longer a member of one of the Group plans (excluding NABET), you will be contacted by us representatives and will receive an Options Package from the insurance carrier. We are copied on this Options Package and will contact you regarding your options but please feel free to contact us in advance to discuss moving your assets out of the Group Plan and into a vehicle of your choice.

Q - Do you work with more than one insurer?

A - Yes we do.  We are aligned with all major insurers in Canada for your benefits needs.  Additionally, we have formed strategic partnerships with specialty risk, employee assistant plan, HR advice and health clinics to provide you with a full roster of products and services.

Q - Will we have a dedicated service representative for our account?

A - Yes, in addition to one of the senior advisors actively managing your account, we will have a direct service advisor dedicated to you. 

​

Q - Are there any additional fees related to your service?

A - Yes.  In addition to the stated commissions on your account, Clear Health may also receive, but not limited to, sales bonuses, retention bonuses, and education allowances as a result of managing your account.  These additional reimbursements are not guaranteed.

Q - Are your commissions stated in our contract?

A - Yes, our mandate is transparency with all of our clients thus, our commissions will be clearly noted in our service commitment to you.

​

Q - Do you offer any assistance with collective bargaining agreements?

A - Yes, we can provide immediate support during your ongoing negotiations offering details on pricing, plan design and market comparisons.

​

Q - When can we expect to see our renewal for the coming year?

A - Our service protocol is to advise our clients immediately when we receive the initial proposal and to personally deliver the final renewal 30 days prior to the renewal date.

​

Q - You mention you have a service guarantee, what is this?

A - Our service guarantee is a defining piece of our firm.  It is our opportunity to ensure that we exceed your expectations and to show our continued commitment to you and your community.

Q - What is your green initiative?

A - Our green initiative is our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint through offering an incentive to our clients who choose to go digital.

Where do I submit my claim

Claim office addresses are located on the insurance carrier claim forms and many insurance companies offer online claims.

 

Are all drugs covered under my plan

Some plans do not cover anti-smoking help, obesity medication, fertility, or sexual enhancement medication.

 

Is travel emergency medical insurance included in my Group Insurance Plan?

Travel Emergency Medical Insurance may not be included in all Group Insurance package. Please review your policy and contact your insurer for more details.

If I find an old Health/Dental bill, can I still claim it.

Was the service date within the past 365 days? If so, you should be able to claim it if you’re still with the same company.

​

If the employee has left the company, they have 120 days from their date of plan termination to submit claims for any eligible expenses incurred up to the end of the month they were with the company.

If you require a list of specific medication not covered, please call your insurance company provider with the DIN # of that particular medication.

​

What is the waiting period for benefits to start?

Depending on your employer’s Group Insurance Plan, and your contract with the employer, benefits usually take 3 to 6 months to start.

​

Who is eligible to a group insurance plan?

Owners, partners, and employees are eligible if they are:

  • Under age 75

  • Canadian residents

  • Work at least 2/3 of the company’s hours

  • Work 20 hours/week or more

  • Commerce or Board of Trade

​

What is a late entrant and how do I avoid it?

All permanent year-round employees must be enrolled into the group insurance program within 3 months of their hire date depending on the predetermined waiting period of your particular group.

 

If this date is missed, the employee becomes a Late Entrant. A full medical disclosure is required and reduced dental benefits are applied.

​

To avoid this situation, please speak to your advisor’s office immediately.
